Do Laundry Like a Boss with These Tips
Who said doing laundry is a boring task? Washing clothes is not as simple as it sounds, you have to sort clothes by color, keep an eye on the pockets of your jeans just in case you have something there like money or important cards and wait until they get dry to fold them and put them back in their place. If you are not a big fan of doing laundry here are some things you should keep in mind if you want to do it like a boss:
Get rid of stains as soon as possible
Nothing worse than going out and get your outfit stained. When this happens, you should get them out right away. Take off the piece of cloth that got stained, add some water and soap and rub it until it fades. If you are not home, you can buy a tide pen to have it handy in your bag just in case of an emergency. Once you get home make sure you wash it immediately.
Use less detergent
Some of us use way too much detergent and softener when we do laundry. Truth is, your clothes can get cleaned with just a bit. This won’t help you save time but it will definitely help you save money because your detergent will last longer.
Separate clothes by color
The first thing that we all learn when we start doing laundry is the importance of sorting clothes by color. The reason is pretty simple if we sort them we can prevent dye transfer problems during washing that tend to ruin or damage our clothes.
Make different piles for white, light and dark clothing like gray, black, navy or purple articles. If you have a piece of cloth that is delicate make sure you wash it by hand to prevent exposing them to the harsh agitation in the washing machine. You don’t want to ruin your favorite outfits!
Use storage baskets to get organized
Storage baskets are great to sort your clothes, you can have 3 different ones for each pile of color. Once you sort them, consider double-checking the clothes as you put them inside the washing machine to prevent mishaps. Shop here.
Read the washing instructions label carefully
Washing instructions are very important, so make sure you read through them carefully. Some pieces of clothing may need different temperatures of water or some other shouldn’t be ironed. Do not cut these instructions, just in case you forget them!
Organize the clothes properly in your drawers
Once you are done doing laundry, and your clothes are already dry and cleaned you can proceed to organize them in your drawers. The best way is to fill them from front to back as shown in this picture. It will make it easier to know what you have.
